Can you help? The Society is planning a concert trip to Stavanger in June of 2008, so to help with the costs we will be organising various fund-raising events in the early months of 2008. These will include a music marathon, the use of a charity shop and a race night. Further details are available on our Fundraising Page.
You may well know that Liverpool is European City of Culture in 2008, but did you know that they are holding it jointly with Stavanger in Norway? Stavanger is also one of Aberdeen's twin towns and during 2007 a small group from Aberdeen Strathspey & Reel Society was invited to perform at a concert in Stavanger by a Norwegian folk music group.
We returned the favour by inviting them to our Fiddlers Rally at the Music Hall in November 2007 and included some Scandinavian music they supplied in the Music Hall programme.
We're looking forward to further strengthening our links with Stavanger and hope you'll support us.
