Formation of contract

We must receive full payment for the goods ordered (including post and packing) before an order can be accepted.  The minimum order value for online orders is GBP 5.00.

If you pay via our on-line payment service provider (WorldPay) you will receive a payment confirmation email from the provider, this does not indicate acceptance of the order.  You will also receive a separate email acknowledging receipt of the order from us.

Payments by cheque in UK pounds sterling drawn on a UK bank account are also accepted but please allow 7 working days after receipt by us for the cheque to clear before the despatch process commences.

The validity of any discount vouchers entered against an order is subject to review to ensure they comply with the terms and conditions of their issue.

You must provide a valid email address and contact telephone number with the order.

In the event of any error in the pricing of products, delivery charges or the invalid application of a discount voucher or other special offer we will contact you by email to advise of the correct price(s) and offer you the option of either paying the revised order amount or cancelling the order with a full refund.

A legally binding contract is not formed until we despatch the goods you ordered.

Prices and descriptions

All prices quoted on the website are in UK pounds sterling and exclude post and packing, which will be added to the cost of the order before final confirmation and payment.

All descriptions, images and specifications are provided for the purposes of advertising the products to allow informed purchasing decisions. We make every effort to ensure that the details match the products as closely as possible but accept no responsibility for any errors or omissions and do not warrant that the goods are suitable for any specific purpose. Goods are subject to availability.


We regret that we are unable to despatch orders to addresses in the USA or Canada due to insurance restrictions.

Orders paid for via our on-line payment service provider will only be despatched to the cardholder’s billing address.

Our charges for post and packing are as follows:

From time to time we may offer reduced or free post & packing on orders that meet certain qualifying conditions. We may use a different provider or class of delivery service for such offers. Any such additional terms and conditions associated with such offers shall be incorporated in this contract.

We aim to despatch orders within 3-5 working days after receipt of order and cleared payment. You should therefore expect goods to arrive by the total of the despatch time plus the delivery time.

UK Next Working Day service deliveries are sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery™ Next Day and require to be signed for, Post Code restrictions apply see Royal Mail for more information. Next working day refers to the delivery time once despatched, whilst we will endeavour to reduce the normal despatch times we cannot guarantee this. Other orders are delivered by Royal Mail/Airmail. We may split the delivery between multiple packages, this will not affect the charges for post & packing.

Customers are responsible for any local taxes, customs duties or other charges incurred if delivery is to an address outside the UK.

Despatch times and delivery times (except in the case of the UK Next Work Day service) are approximate . Delays in delivery are outwith our control after despatch. We shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, consequential losses or other costs arising from a delayed delivery which is beyond our control.

You become responsible for the goods once they are received at the delivery address.

Cancellation & Returns

Right to cancel

In accordance with the The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, unless one of the exceptions listed below applies, you have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.

The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you, or a third party other than the
carrier and indicated by you, receives physical possession of the last goods purchased.

To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us at Aberdeen Strathspey & Reel Society,23 Cliff View, Newtonhill, Stonehaven, AB39 3GX or email:treasurer@aberdeenstrathspey.org.uk of your decision to cancel this contract by a clear statement (e.g. a letter sent by post or by e-mail).

You can also electronically fill in and submit the model cancellation form on our website www.aberdeenstrathspey.org.uk/returns. If you use this option, we will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a cancellation by e-mail.

To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.

Effects of cancellation

If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).

We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.

We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than:

  1. 14 days after the day we receive back from you any goods supplied, or
  2. (if earlier) 14 days after the day you provide evidence that you have returned the goods.

We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise. In any event, you will not incur any fees from us as a result of such reimbursement. We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.

You shall send back the goods to us at Aberdeen Strathspey & Reel Society, 23 Cliff View, Newtonhill, Stonehaven, AB39 3GX without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your cancellation from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. 

You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods.

You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.

Exceptions to cancellation

You do not have the right to cancel this contract if the goods are audio products and you, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you, have unsealed the goods after delivery.

The costs of personalised services, including gift wrapping, are not reimbursable in the event of cancellation after despatch. 

Faulty or incorrect goods

In the event that the goods supplied are faulty or incorrect please send an email to treasurer@aberdeenstrathspey.org.uk before you return the goods to the above address. We will arrange for either a refund or a replacement to be sent and for any delivery charges you incurred in returning the goods to be refunded.

Missing deliveries

If you have not received the goods ordered within 10 working days of the estimated despatch time + delivery time please contact treasurer@aberdeenstrathspey.org.uk.


The contract will be governed by the laws of Scotland and the parties agree the courts of Scotland shall have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve any disputes between us.

To the extent permitted by law we will not be responsible for any direct, indirect or consequential losess unless they were reasonably forseeable by both us and you when the contract was formed. This does not limit our liability for death or personal injury resulting from our negligence. Nothing in this agreement is intended to affect your statutory consumer rights.

If any of these terms and conditions are unenforceable the enforceability of any of the other terms and conditions shall not be affected.

By placing an order you agree to be bound by the terms of the privacy policy.

These terms and conditions may be amdended without notice. Any changes shall be published only on our website.

The website includes links to external sites over which we have no control. The presence of a link does not consitute any recommendation or approval of a website by us.

Privacy policy

By using the website you consent that we may collect non-personal information (including but not restricted to your domain or IP address, the browser and operating system you are using, the pages you visit and the date and time visited, the address of the website that you linked from). We collect this information in order to monitor website usage and make improvements to the site.

Cookies are used on this site to provide functionality and usability features, including the shopping cart features. Cookies are text files that are stored on your computer and retrieved by our web server each time you visit a page on our site. Most browsers have features that allow you to block cookies being placed on your computer, however this may affect certain functionality of our site.

We participate in affiliate schemes. Links to certain external sites from our website include a method of identifying the site that you have come from so that any qualifying commission may be paid to us on orders you place with these external sites. The links do not contain personally identifiable information.

We capture the personal information that you supply as part of the ordering process (including name, email address, billing/delivery address) so that we are able to administer and account for the order. We will never supply this information to a third party other than to assist us in processing your order or in relation to Gift Aid tax reclaims.

Online payments are processed on our behalf by a third party payment service provider (WorldPay). The information that you provide to them is subject to their Privacy policy. We do not hold your credit/debit card information as this is administered by the payment service provider on a site external to ours and is subject to their security provisions. We do receive confirmation that the payment has been successful.
